Summary
Emery Wright and Travis Cole have been close since the summer he and his twin, Stephen, moved across the street. Their relationship doesn’t change in an instant; instead, it’s a slow-drip. By the time Emma leaves Vancouver for Toronto, she accepts that there’s nothing left between them. Five years later, an empty bank account, lack of support, and a sudden break-up, force Emma to return home. She finds herself stuck: living with family, returning to an uninspiring job, and resuming appointments with her ineffective psychologist . Worse, unresolved tensions from her past are waiting for her—the confusing pull towards Travis that she could never quite shake.
As his relationship with his twin brother grows distant at an uncomfortable clip, NHL player Travis Cole looks to his past to make sense of his present. When an injury threatens to end his career and Stephen’s resentments complicate Travis’ burgeoning reconnection with Emma, Travis is forced to stop long enough to process relationships he’s been too passive in protecting. Travis must grapple with his past mistakes to decide his future—balancing his desires against what changes he’s willing to make.
